Are you ready for an extraordinary journey – physically, mentally, and spiritually?
For two weeks in October and/or November 2025, I invite you to join a small group of like-minded individuals on a pilgrimage along the Franciscan Way from Assisi to Rome. This journey is inspired by the Holy Year and offers an ecumenical experience, open to all who seek a spiritual challenge, regardless of their religious background. Together, we will walk in the spirit of Saint Francis, embracing simplicity, mindfulness, and community.

What to expect:
- 10-12 days of pilgrimage, covering 20 to 25 km per day (250 km in total), through the stunning landscapes of Umbria and Lazio
- Free days in Assisi and Rome
- Accommodation in simple pilgrim hostels, with modest meals in line with the principle of simplicity
- Spiritual guidance, daily reflections, and time for personal contemplation
- Personal development through self-chosen themes – whether faith, values, or personal growth
- A strong sense of community – supporting and challenging each other along the way
- The primary language will be English or German, depending on the composition of the group
Who is this pilgrimage for?
This pilgrimage is designed for young adults aged 18 to 35 who are looking for both a physical challenge and spiritual depth. You should have a good level of fitness, as the daily stages will be demanding. This is not a journey for lone wolves – we are a group that supports, challenges, and grows together.
Key details:
- Cost: 500 – 600 Euro (covering accommodation and organisation)
- Group size: Maximum of 12 participants (minimum of 3 for the pilgrimage to take place)
- Travel arrangements: Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from Italy
- A digital introductory meeting is scheduled for May, where I will present the journey in greater detail and get to know those interested.
- Registration deadline: tbd.
What this pilgrimage is NOT about:
This is not a self-optimisation retreat. It is not about pushing limits for the sake of achievement, but about cultivating kindness towards ourselves, growing through challenges, and consciously experiencing community. Alcohol and drugs are not welcome – instead, we focus on mindfulness, simplicity, and being present in the moment.
Who is organising and leading this pilgrimage?
My name is Alexander Steinfeldt, and as a trained pilgrimage guide, I will be organising and leading this journey. For several years, I have embarked on pilgrimages to find inner peace, focus on the essentials of life, and inspire others to do the same. My aim is to help people step out of their daily routine and gain new strength and clarity through pilgrimage. I will take care of the route planning, accommodation arrangements, and spiritual guidance along the way.
